Chicago, Illinois was founded in 1833 at the site of a portage between the Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River watershed. It has grown to a population of over 3 million people and is home to one of the most vibrant sports communities in Chicago. The city boasts fouding franchises of Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Hockey League. The city is also home to many minor league franchises, semi-pro teams, collegiate teams, and nationally known high school programs in nearly every conceivable sport.
